Assumpta hails from Rush in County Dublin and made the move to Galway in 1974.

She always had an interest in Arts and Crafts, and in 2002 started painting lessons with Barbara Kavanagh at Culdee Art Studio in Annaghdown, Co. Galway. She joined the Galway Art Club in 2010.

Assumpta likes to work with soft pastels and watercolour and has a preference for still life and flowers.

She has exhibited with Culdee in Annaghdown, with the Galway Art Club at their Annual Exhibition from 2012 to 2014 and also in Castle Ellen in the summer of 2014.

She tries to portray how light illuminates objects and scenes by using shade and light to create contrast, along with colour, to give a realistic picture of her subject.
