May was born and raised in Kilkenny. She moved to Galway in the mid 1980’s.
She likes to work with oils and paints landscapes and street scenes.
May was introduced to painting with a course under John Mulhern at G.T.I., Galway. She studied further with Derek Biddulph and Desmond Turner of the Achill School of painting.
She exhibits most years at the Galway Art Club annual summer exhibition.
